We remember one sixth‑grader who whispered, "I try not to cry so my mom won't feel worse." That quiet kind of bravery is exactly why we created the One Girl One Boy Program.
This mentorship circle pairs children and teens who have a parent or close loved one with cancer with caring adults who understand illness, fear, and resilience. Through games, conversations, martial arts activities, and creative projects, mentors give young people a place to ask hard questions, laugh loudly, and simply be kids again.
Parents tell us their children sleep better and open up more after meeting with their mentors. Kids tell us, "Now I know I'm not the only one." One Girl One Boy helps our young people feel seen, supported, and strong enough to face what is happening at home.
